North Minneapolis man shot and killed by FBI after standoff

A man was shot and killed by FBI agents Thursday afternoon in North Minneapolis after an hours-long standoff.

Authorities say the standoff began at 5 a.m. at a home near the intersection of Dupont and 37th avenues. He was shot by federal agents after emerging from the home.

A bystander captured the incident on video. His cellphone footage showed at least seven Federal agents with weapons drawn. One of them yells “hands!” and then three shots are fired. According to the Minneapolis police, officers then performed CPR but the suspect “succumbed to their wounds.”

According to Police Chief Brian O’Hara, no Minneapolis police were involved in the shooting, but members of the police department were present during the raid as part of the periphery. Authorities say the suspect streamed the incident live on social media.

A second person who was in the home has been taken to the hospital; the source of their injuries was not specified.
